despite the sun in the background, the 4 appears equally lit in all directions.
furthermore, in the same panel, there is also a for.
this shows that this scene is not foreshadowing, but is metaphorical.
there’s a theme of token compliance with accessibility:
stairs with rails that look like the sides of an escalator, and no other way to get to the clouds.
a sign showing where up is, which is useless for people with uppity-downy dyslexia because you need to understand arrows and the word up.
the bar has a tengu door, but no tengu-accessible seating.
the man is clearly a libertine, but judges by appearances, like a cop.
there’s also a theme of bittersweet endings:
the giant cowboy is only buried to his shoulders, he could get out if he wanted to.
the robot arm is writing about the end of the universe.
the second panel evokes a “stairway to heaven”, but it’s just a stairway to a place above the clouds.
the gramophone without a record no longer needs to “spin plates”, because it’s obsolete.
overly buoyant shark, the sequel to non-buoyant shark, mountain shark, and victim shark, is hanging out next to a mountain and I feel sorry for them.
of course, this is not foreshadowing, so it doesn’t necessarily say the story will have a bittersweet ending.
…
2100: Franklin Delano Roosevelt had multiple extramarital affairs.
2101: SPHINX was a satellite, and stands for Space Plasma High Voltage Interaction Experiment, which is a set of very manly words.
Bern: I’ve heard of a tengu, and I’ve heard of a door, but what, pray, is a tengu door?
The robot arm is writing about the end of the universe, but there’s a thermos in panel 4. A thermos keeps hot things hot. Does that imply protection against the heat death of the universe? Well, the thermos is next to a shark and a wine bar. Sharks and wine are cold-oriented. Is the thermos of their ilk, or is it protecting its contents from them?
Thanks for keeping track of the sharks of the ages.
Cold: I’ve heard of being head-over-heels, but overhead without anus? Ay ay ay!
@isto
it’s the one on the right on the fourth panel
because overly buoyant shark is headed towards the mountain, and sharks hunt by sensing electricity, the mountain must be more electric than the wine bar. that means the bar’s power is out, so it’s using the thermos to keep the wine cold. overly buoyant shark is seeking out a position of high potential energy to preserve their own ability to do work. they’re seeking out electricity instead of height because they are lighter than air.
you’ll note that the bar has a poster of a satellite in the background. a satellite is something that is finished, it will never be worked on again.
overly buoyant shark is heat-oriented, the thermos is cold-oriented, and the wine bar is neutral, but embracing the thermos.

Hehe, “Overhead, without anus”
