The Great One is a god, and he is giving them a mission, (making them technically Missionaries.) It is a mission across an extraspatial void calling for the expertise of an alcoholic euclidean pixie (with a minor physical abnormality) and the world’s foremost uppy-downy-dyslexic… I think I am beginning to understand the requirements of the mission, and the machinations of the plot. It is like something out of “Orpheus and Eurypterids”. The Underworld must be just full of them, as well as condors, and Lirus.
You must be one devious chess player, or a second rate CD player.

Oh man, Orpheus and Eurydice was already a pretty strong story, but once you make her several Eurypterids, it’s my favorite story ever.
And I’m even worse at chess than I am at this, so…
