So I totally decided to make the one character Florida before I realized there was going to be a ding-dong joke. Then, when the joke came, I was like, “Wow, there’re layers to that! This is why you should always consider casting phallic landmasses into supporting actor roles, Hollywood.”

Oh, hey, and I’m going to go ahead and put up another reminder to read this Mountain Time special feature comic. My sense of when to stop posting reminder links is very weak, probably because of how I stopped posting reminder links all the time when I was young. (That sentence is way weirder than I thought it’d be.)

You know how they’ve been making Froot Loops forever, but only recently realized they could put marshmallows in it? It’s such an obvious progression, but it took a long time to come about. Likewise, it just now occurred to me that I could put kung fu battles in Mountain Time. It also just occurred to me that telling a kung fu fighter that you like his marshmallows would be hilarious, so everybody go do that.

Also, since midnight happens where I live after it happens in the Mountain Time zone, new comics are now going to go up an hour or two later than before.

Hey dudes,
Looks like that’s about it for Mountain Time — at least for a while. Right now, my “ambitious comic ideas” list is a lot longer than, well, whatever the opposite list is called (I’m not sure because they’re actually all on the same list; maybe if I were better with list-keeping I wouldn’t have these problems). So yeah, I decided to do a hiatus thing so I could sort of slough off some old tendencies and make way for exciting new ones.

Welcome to 2010, brats and Britons! I know you’ve been here for a few days, but civility never hurts.

Anyway, a couple of things:
1. No, this episode does not establish in-canon that all the other characters without faces drawn are actually faceless. Nice try, though.

2. I’m going to be spending the next two months preparing for and executing a 2000-mile change of address. Turns out there’s kind of a lot involved in that, so Mountain Time is going to go down to just Monday and Thursday updates for a little while.

Dudes and non-dudes, the Contra Waltz is an actual kind of waltz! I doubt the same can be said for the Mega Man 2 Waltz, the Clash at Demonhead Waltz, the Rescue: The Embassy Mission Waltz or the Crash ‘n the Boys Street Challenge Waltz, but I haven’t actually checked.

HOLIDAY UPDATE

Hello, Mountain Timers! It’s break time; Mountain Time will return January 4, 2010. (That’s pronounced “twenty-ten” guys! We’re a decade into this century now, so it’s about time we got comfortable with it - no more of this “two-thousand-x” business. It’s way too formal. It’d be like calling Picasso by his full name. We don’t even use the “Pablo” anymore, because when you say “Picasso”, no one assumes you’re talking about Frank Picasso.)

I hope you all have/had an excellent Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Yuletide/Saturnalia/Opiumorama/whatever, and a happy new year, and a few other good days in between - I mean, don’t go crazy with it, but, you know, don’t spend the whole time flagellating yourselves with razor wire or whatever.

Oh, and I’ll still be around to answer emails and comments and love letters and all that.

Where I’m from, potato wedges are called jojos. Check it out: I used the more broadly accepted term so as not to be all ethnocentric or whatever, but then I realized that calling them “potato wedges” is just as overly literal and bland as “Big Mountain” and “Not-so-exciting Cow”. So that’s, um, that’s the thematic message of today’s episode?
