You’re absolutely killing me. God I miss writing jokes like this, but typically not as good or connected.. I also like how the grandpathoughtbubble is in the shape of a T for no raisin.. and the wonky building whose door wonks the opposite wank.. but dunking the monocle in maple syrup is like, worthy of being on a poster. An ad for syrup. “See the world a little more sweetly, with Tree Sap Concentrate (name pending)”
The raisin for the t-shape was to fit it in the panel. That was also the reason, but who cares about reasons?
The maple syrup thing was originally supposed to be about something completely different, but I can’t say what in case I want to use it later.
The alt text was also meant to be something else altogether, but I realized it might not’ve been true to life. In short, I changed almost all of my ideas on this one.
It was world-class alt text. I found myself saying variants of it all day. ‘You don’t think Anne B. Davis, but she do.’ And then thinking about Alice leads to ‘You don’t think Alice B. Toklas, but she do(obie)’.. It just keeps going.
As usual, so many good gags packed into here that the least noticeable one deserves a shout-out. In this case I think it’s either the crenellation to the right of the building in the first panel or the reveal that he’s wearing swim trunks for some reason in the last.
Circle: And now I know the word “crenellation.” I could pretend like I just wanted an interesting shape for a background building, but ya got me! Definitely an intended gag!

Anyway, thanks!
Oh man, so you haven’t heard the good word of MACHICOLATIONS!
