UPDATE
I did a little bit of forgetting what day it was. New comic Tuesday (that’s tomorrow).

Somehow I thought he was using a small object to apply red paste to MM’s face. I’m adorable sometimes.. Wait, are those dangly bits his lips? Not his little moose beard? Awww.
Maybe I should add a sound effect to clarify. Pluck?
And yep, moose lips.
We need to do science! FOLEY SCIENCE!
I thought about “splurp,” my favorite flesh-splitting sound, but to the uninitiated (because “new people are reading Mountain Time every day,” I tell myself), that could just as easily be the sound of smearing some ketchup on MM’s face.
Ah, mountain time, consistantly nonsensical, while also making impossible levels of sense.
I honestly have a hard time telling if Mountain Time is like that anymore, because the webcomic scene these days is… not useful as a gauge.

I can confidently say that of the dozens of webcomics I follow, Mountain Time has the most unexpected minor characters. this has two obvious advantages:
if we can’t expect the characters, we can’t expect what they do even if it makes sense.
if the characters aren’t expected to stay around, you can exhaust every joke you want to do for them in one go.
it’s sketch comedy. I don’t know any other webcomics that do that. closest I can think of is Skin Horse.

Interesting take! I think the “sketch comedy” interpretation is quite accurate. Unfortunately, the sketch troupes I’ve applied to write for disagree.
