Back in the Lab – or – I’ll Stop the World If I Melt You
Jul22
Suggested wine pairing: frosé.
The artwork is a little inconsistent on this one because I started working on it at least a year and a half ago, when the height of pen technology was a dodo feather dipped in squid puke.
Oh man. This was fantastic!
I didn’t realize I was reading something this big, and I guess I never really did the “measure the scroll bar” glance, so I was repeadly surprised as the comic kept ramping up. That was fun.
Man, I was just at the right part of my archive re-binge for this.
Those penguins are cute.
I thought NORAD was run by Norrin Radd! That’s why tinfoil works so great at enhancing antennae.
That “box of wigs” in the explanation about cryologic is stellar foreshadowing. Like Chekov (or whoever) said, if you put a box of wigs in the first act, someone’s gotta put one on before the last.
I suppose the wig is on the other foot now, wouldn’t you say Lawrence?
Stephen: It ended up being a lot longer than I expected too. I thought it’d be maybe 10 or 11 pages, and then it hit 17 (before I added in several scenes and the “Mike’s Dysfunction” part).
Cold: Those ain’t penguins, pal! Also, I had strongly considered cutting the NORAD joke (there were a whole bunch of lines in that scene I didn’t use), so at least I got a comment out of it.
Xin: Try me all you want, foul tempter; I’m not going to expose any other foreshadowing or symbolism. I will, however, tell you that the two boxes next to the salad bar are labeled “JARS 12 CT,” because that didn’t size down well enough to read.
Ohh damn this one was good. I don’t have anything funny to say. I just drank an entire can of coconut milk because I don’t have the energy to buy groceries and I’m too sad to make dinner.
Protip: Order a pizza. Kill the pizza guy. Go to your neighbor’s house, offering pizza. When your neighbor goes to the bathroom, steal their food. Return home. Cook the pizza guy in a large number of crock pots. Use your neighbor’s food to make a week’s worth of pizza-guy meals. Never question your actions, and never repent.
Perhaps the universe repaid her by generating a cartoonist who then created this epic retelling of her heroism/origin story?
The NORAD bit was good, you did right to leave it in.
Aha! I think this must be the second one in this 1028 comics (524*2).
(does anyone get this dumb back-reference?)
Sheesh, you expect me to read this whole thing? Because I will. I most certainly will.
