For seemingly random esoteric metaphors, there are a lot of recurring characters. I forgot about that lump with flyswat skull object thing. He is my second favourite character to end a comic with an epithet-style comment, after whoever is commenting on snailbears at any given moment.
Is self-psychoanalysis a thing? Or must we appoint a deity, an external saviour, to understand our own psyche? Is there an underlying reason to create without recognition, or any long term goals or purpose other than intrinsic meaning? Will these ever be more than rhetorical questions; Would answers render them meaningless?
An excellent example of Noir psychological expression. One is left in a profound state of uncertainty concerning whether the recurringly aselfsinating gentlemen is talking to himself, or does he believe someone else in the vicinity is named Craig. Craig would certainly be an awesome, if unconventional, name for an owl drummer, and a reasonably unlikely moniker for sputnik.
Panda: The best metaphor requires several other, nested metaphors, and the best way to establish those is through recurrence. Or through using other, pre-established metaphors, but that’s not my game.
Lemoncurry?: This made me imagine a science-fiction story in which humans learn to speak Owl, and it turns out a lot of them are named Craig. It… wasn’t a very good story.
If only I had the wine to pair with this.
